Two days of clean country family fun hosted by Barung Landcare, the Wood Expo showcases sustainable timber production and our beautiful native timbers through the work of local and regional wood artisans.
The Expo has everything timber from mobile milling and slabs to fine furniture and sculpture, local Maleny produce, sustainable alternatives for the home, natural resource management displays and much more.
Smell the distinctive spicy aroma of newly milled timber and watch live demos of chainsaws, woodworking, trade tools and more.
Pull up a hay bale and enjoy great food and fabulous local music. Have a great day!
All wood artisans and exhibitors are required to work in sustainably harvested native timbers, weed or recycled timbers. See our Sustainable Timber Policy here.
Welcome to the Maleny Wood Expo 2014 – another great Sunshine Coast experience on Queensland’s dynamic and growing events calendar.
Tourism is one of the four pillars of the Queensland economy. A key theme of the recently launched Destination Success 20-year plan for Queensland tourism is to identify and promote iconic experiences throughout Queensland’s many destinations.
By working hand-in-hand though an industry-government partnership, we have a plan to secure the long term future of Queensland’s tourism industry.
The government is proud to support the Maleny Wood Expo 2014 through Tourism and Events Queensland, recognising the importance of events in driving visitors to regional areas and showcasing Queensland’s destination experiences.
Events like this are not only a source of community pride, they also bring social and economic benefit to the host community and will assist us to reach our goal to double annual overnight visitor expenditure from $15 billion to $30 billion by 2020.
The Maleny Wood Expo 2014 is supported through Tourism and Events Queensland’s Regional Development Program, which to date has invested more than $23 million across 1,067 Queensland events.
I would like to thank the local community, volunteers and event organisers for their terrific efforts in delivering this event for the Sunshine Coast.
The Hon. Jann Stuckey
Queensland Minister for Tourism, Major Events,
Small Business and the Commonwealth Games
