About Richard Knight

With a natural affinity for wood, Richard Knight creates rustic timber furniture that showcases the natural beauty of timber and is built to stand the test of time.

Working with a range of salvaged Australian and exotic timber species, Richard creates unique artistic furniture pieces from stools and tables to beds.

Richard’s craft evolved from people like Jimmy Possum, a Tasmanian bushman who during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, made chairs using the same technique of construction.

He worked with simple hand tools such as a draw knife, rasps and chisels.

Today, Richard runs a diversity of workshops to share this craft with a wider audience, and continues to create bespoke pieces for his clients.
